Sideswipe - The Knight Autobot

      Transformers 2 has brought some new characters into the game, both positive and negative: so we have some new villains, but also new heroes. Optimus Prime is loved and favored by everybody, and in a way he's like a Knight too - he has his own swords, doesn't he? However, the new and upgraded version of Sideswipe has a striking resemblance to the blade master hero type from the Hellgate London video game. You can see him in the picture above as the car concept Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as he was featured in the movie Transformers 2 - Revenge of the Fallen. Right below you have a picture of him transformed and also a picture of a Hellgate London Blademaster Knight (for comparison).

      We believe that he was one of the best autobots - well , yes, they all are really cool, but Sideswipe's unique design, with the two sharp blades makes him stand out of the crowd. It's a shame we don't get to see more action from him, but we can only hope that in Transformers 3 he'll show up on camera more often. Since we mentioned a few words about the Hellgate London game - we have some news - apparently Hanbitsoft has aquired the distribution rights for US and Europe - so it's a sign that we will see the digitalized knights once again in action.

      What's the story of Sideswipe in Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen? Here it is: "Sideswipe joins late in the chase in Shanghai, China chasing after the Decepticon Sideways. As Sideswipe pursues Sideways, Sideswipe somersaults over him then launching one of his arm blades into the front of Sideways' vehicle mode. As he lands, Sideswipe reattaches the blade (which is still embedded in Sideways) and forces it lengthwise down Sideways' body, cutting him in half, killing him instantly (video below). He is also seen in the fight against the Decepticons after Optimus Prime is killed by Megatron as Bumblebee and the twins escape with Sam. Sideswipe makes his way to Egypt with the other Autobots alongside Ratchet, Ironhide, Jolt, and the body of Optimus Prime to engage the incoming Decepticons, before being brushed aside by Fallen when he teleports in front of them. Throughout the rest of the film, he is seen firing at incoming Decepticons along with the humans and other Autobots."
